National Trust #secretwalk in Dovedale, Derbyshire – #GBWalk

It’s been a while since my last blog post, life has been busy with lots of photo opportunities and volunteering along the way.

A few weeks ago an email popped into my inbox inviting me on a secret walk with the National Trust in the Peak District. Details were very secret indeed and I found out the destination only a couple of days before the event. I was destined for Milldale and Dovedale in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside.

I awoke to discover a superb sunny day with blue sky, so not only great countryside but beautiful weather too.

Alfie the Rangers dog joined a group of us for our walk. I think he had as much fun meeting people as we did.

Here he is getting up close with my wide angle lens

We were guided off the well known track and up into woodland. It felt like we were walking through the Hobbit movie with all the green moss and gnarled branches. This was soon to be replaced with lots of nettles which made our adventure a little more challenging!

Starting to climb higher above Dovedale and the views are just magnificent.

As our slightly tired legs carried us down along the packhorse track we were greeted with a table clothed trestle table laden with hot coffee, fresh juice, delightful cakes and Scones. I think passers by were intrigued as to who was having such a lavish picnic on tartan wool rugs next to the River Dove under an Ash tree! Susan Guy - Dovedale DSC_7228 7233 7238c Susan Guy - Dovedale DSC_7232 c

The perfect end to a wonderful afternoon.
